Differences from similar species
Carcharhinus falciformis has the origin of the first dorsal fin located slightly posterior to the free tips of the pectoral fins, and the inner edge of its second dorsal fin is at least twice the fin height. C. obscurus has a smaller second dorsal fin (1.5% to 2.3% of total length).
